Yesterday, we headed up to Bedford to The Sharnbrook Hotel to attend a Supercar themed charity fundraiser, in aid of PoTS UK.
James, one of our Dream Car Events drivers took our 2015 Ferrari 458 Spyder to the event, which gained a lot of attention from all ages. Throughout the day, over 70 passengers experienced the array of Dream Rides whereby drivers take passengers on a short run for a contribution to charity.
The Ferrari was one of the most popular cars of the day and has since appeared on social media over and over in the past 24 hours.
The charity - PoTS UK is a life-altering heart condition. Simply standing up can be a challenge for people with PoTS as their body is unable to adjust to gravity. PoTS is characterised by orthostatic intolerance (the development of symptoms when upright that are relieved by lying down). Symptoms include headaches, fatigue, palpitations, sweating, nausea, fainting and dizziness and are associated with an increase in heart rate from the lying to upright position of greater than 30 beats per minute, or a heart rate of greater than 120 beats per minute within 10 minutes of standing.
Event organiser and PoTS sufferer Paul Gardner said "The event exceeded all expectations with an astounding array of Super, classic and modified cars, in a lovely surrounding. All the owners were true petrol heads, with smiles from start to finish. Mums and dads lived out their boy and girl racer memories with some retro metal, while everyone drooled over the Supercars. Dream rides as well were a massive success. We smashed our donation target... And It was all thanks to the selflessness of the all involved. A personal thank you goes to PV who not only brought along their new 458 spider, but were booked solid on dream rides all afternoon. There were a lot of happy customers and raised loads of dosh for POTs UK - Thanks again"
Ciro Ciampi, owner of The Sharnbrook Hotel said "SupercarFunday was exactly what we conceived it to be, lots of petrolheads and enthusiasts with big smiles on their faces! The Dream Rides were a phenomenal charity fundraising engine with the Première Velocity 458 Spyder being one of the biggest stars of the show helping to raise over £5000 for POTS UK. As well as the monies raised, the awareness the event spread was certainly invaluable. I would like to thank Paul Gardner at KIK Customs, all the Dream Riders, Supporters and of course everybody that attended to make it another very special event on our Car Show calendar" Ciro Ciampi, General Manager, The Sharnbrook Hotel & VesuviO Restaurant
