There’s excitement all round in the motorcar world this week and especially at Première Velocity as Goodwood opens its doors. It kicked off with the Moving Motor Show yesterday, where some of our supercar hire fleet will be involved, also where new car debuts appeared for the very first time in the UK. We then move on to the main spectacle; the Festival of Speed which starts Friday July 12th and lasts all weekend to Sunday July 14th.
Many landmarks are reached in this year’s Festival of Speed with the hosts celebrating their 20th anniversary with many familiar faces in line with Premiere Velocity’s supercar hire such as Ferrari, McLaren and Lamborghini while some new faces come in the form of Vuhl who are unveiling their intriguing track focused but road legal car the Vuhl 50.
Porsche are set to steal the show with the iconic sculpture outside Goodwood set to be Porsche 911 inspired as they are celebrating the 911’s 50 year anniversary, to add to the celebrations many different 911’s old and new will be posted around Goodwood with the more famous carefully placed in the more luxurious confines.
A festival of milestones rather than speed it seems with another coming in the shape of the World Rally Championships commemorating its 40 years in existence by turning out all the championship winning cars from each year. We are also glad to report that the iconic pairing of Nelson Piquet and the Brabham BT52 will be in attendance; also fans of F1 need not worry as seven teams have already confirmed they will be present – Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari and Lotus to name a few who will have their cars racing in the current championship on show and taking part in some events.
There will be no excuses for boredom as there is so much going on over the four days and in particular when the Festival of Speed kicks off on the Friday. A wide range of activities will fill your day such as watching the mesmerising control shown by the rally drivers through the forest track, or maybe you prefer to simply browse and come across a supercar on hire from Premiere Velcoity let us know, here’s the map just incase you get lost (Anchor - http://www.goodwood.co.uk/festival-of-speed/event-explorer/interactive-map.aspx) if you need a brake excuse the pun then they’re many vibrant bars and many beautiful backdrops to sit back and take it all in.
You have been warned not to miss your favourite manufacturer’s hill climb. The world famous timed hill climb is sure to be a fan favourite as always and here at Première Velocity we expect a small number of our supercars on hire to line up against some beauty’s but also some beasts.
