In terms of styling, the M5 is a rather subdued thing. The three gaping air intakes below the front grille are a small nod in the direction of its fearsome performance. Its the same story the swollen arches conceal wider front and rear tracks and those gorgeous 5 star M-Sport polished alloys. It’s a similar story inside, with plenty of space for five people and their luggage, along with that feeling of solidity and tactility that BMW does so well. Like any current 5-series you can easily sit one six-footer behind another and up front the centre console and its controls are angled slightly towards the driver. Mounted behind the steering wheel are paddles for the seven-speed double-clutch gearbox, which itself can operate as either an auto or sequential manual. As with all new M-Cars there is a multitude of options for the powertrain, gearbox and suspension. However, when you have a 4.4l Twin Turbo V8 that develops a staggering 562bhp, we simply don't care about the complications. With a 0-62 time of 4.0 seconds and a top speed of over 200mph without BMW's limiter, the figures speak for themselves. The M5 truly is a wolf in sheeps clothing like nothing we have ever stocked here at PV. Those with heart conditions need not apply!
