Hyper Cars Battle It Out

Shelby SuperCars is planning to launch a new model to take back the world land speed record for a production car from Bugatti.

Shelby’s SSC Ultimate Aero first set the record back in 2007 with a time of 412.28km/h (256.23mph), set on a closed 19km (12 mile) stretch of road in Nevada.

But Bugatti’s new Veyron 16.4 Super Sport model clocked 431.072km/h (267.91mph) at Volkswagen’s 21km (13 mile) Ehra-Lessien test track in late June.

Shelby believes having its new design chief Jason Castriota on board will allow it to find the extra speed required to top Bugatti’s record with a more aerodynamic design.

Castriota has worked on designs in the past including the Bertone Mantide and Pininfarina P4/5. In regards to Castriota’s first design for the company, Shelby said it was “anxious to show the world what we have up our sleeve”.

The New Maserati Gran Cabrio Review

After what seemed like an age we finally took delivery over the only Maserati Gran Cabrio ( Gran Turismo Convertible ) available to hire in the UK.

First impressions were 'WOW'! This car takes four seat comfort in a supercar to whole new level. We opted for a striking colour combination of white exterior and a rosso red interior with matching dashboard and rear enclosing shelf giving you a sea of colour once nestled in the cabin.

The seats are very very nice and put you in the correct driving position. The instruments are clear and surprisingly well finished, but one or two buttons are a little hard to find due to the positioning. Flick the cover back to expose the roof collapse button and the process takes about 15 seconds to become topless and what you are left with is a picture of Italian beauty. But that's not the best bit.

Turn the ignition key and you are welcomed by a mild growl but the sound is invigorating, press the accelerator and once you get up the rev range the growl turns into a roar, press the sport button and what I can express in only one way is 'the greatest sound I've heard from a road car' - EVER!

Porsche Panamera Now Available to Hire

Great news !!!!! Our new Panamera has just arrived and is now available to hire. Be one of the first people in the UK to drive this revoloutionary four door supercar from Prsche. You can be assured that not only will it have power and comfort but exclusivity is the key word.

There are technical advantages, too. The lighter-weight V6 reduces the load over the Panamera’s nose by 30kg and shifts the engine’s C of G backwards, marginally-improving weight distribution to 52:48 front:rear.

The 300bhp output of the V6 is impressive, placing it above similarly-engined rivals, whose V6s tend to make between 240 – 270bhp. As a result the Panamera V6 records impressive-looking performance on paper.

Ferrari 458 Italia Test Drive

Premiere Velocity recently had the chance to test drive the all new Ferrari 458 Italia and all we can see is WOW!

The first thing that stands out is how the car looks. In my opinion, this is the best looking Ferrari ever without exception. The most amazing curves I have seen on any vehicle grace all angles, especially the air intake ducts and wheel arches. There is a notable improvement in the interior as well, with all the instruments curving towards the driver allowing easy line of sight whilst driving.

The engine as you would expect from Ferrari is a gem and purrs at 30 mph yet, crank the revs up to 8500 RPM and you would think World War 3 had started. This car is quick, not normal quick but ridiculously quick. Handling is pin sharp with corners mastered at a breeze, the slightest movement on the steering wheel and the nose follows. What impressed me the most though was the gear change. This must be as close to a F1 cars gear change is you will get on a road car, it's instant and I mean INSTANT, no lag, no pausing, just instant!

This new Ferrari is so ggod I don't know how the competitors will compete, but I sincerely hope they do and when they do the result will be amamzing.

Mercedes Benz C63 AMG Available for Hire 1st September 2010

We are pleased to announce the delivery date of our latest fleet addition is the 1st September 2010.

Spell binding performance and in the best colour - white, we can't wait to get our hands on it and you will have the chance to book it as soon as you pick up the phone!

Lewis Hamilton drives one so they must be pretty darn good, and this review gives you a taste of things to come -

'The result is surprisingly tasteful, particularly when one thinks of the lairy BMW M3 . Inside the AMG influence is mercifully light, confined mainly to special steering-wheel and gearlever covers and floor mats, comfy and supportive AMG racing seats with built-in head restraints and some aluminium-alloy kick plates on the sills. Under the skin, however, this is a pretty special car, with a completely revised MacPherson-strut front suspension, wider track and worked-over rear suspension. The brakes are new, the steering revalved and the car now runs on 18in wheels and tyres with a 19in option. On the road all this means the C63 steers and corners with a great deal more precision than the standard C-class. It turns in more crisply and it rolls less. The sharp application of engine torque to the wheels has less effect on the roadholding and the steering feels firmer, with more feedback. The brakes are humungous, the 14in front discs slowing the car almost as if it had run into the hand of an infant giant playing with his new C63 on the kitchen floor.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 Superleggera Exclusive Review

We don't have one for hire yet , but Lamborghini gave us the opportunity to try out the new and exclusive Lamborghini LP560 Superleggera and what a machine it is.

Premiere Velocity are hoping to get one of these on the hire fleet, but at £200k plus it's not the cheapest car in the world but what a car it is.

Based on the LP560- Coupe which is a masterpiece in design and build, this light weight 'Superleggera' version takes it to the next level. The outside is decked in carbon fibre, door mirrors, engine cover and a huge spoiler that gives an already sure footed beast even more grip. The front and rear diffusers are in matt black and set against the white colour they really stand out. The tell tale Superleggera branding down the side is accompanied by the tri-color to let you know its heritage. Inside there is masses of carbon and alcantara along with new white dials. No solid door handles, just alcantara straps which shows the degree of weight saving the Italians will go to.

As for performance the engine is increased by 10BHP which doesn't sound like much but with the weight saving it is very noticeable on the road and through the corners the spoiler works a treat.

Lets just hope we have one for you guys to hire very soon ........

New Porsche Cayenne Review

Not for the first time, Premiere Velocity were invited to a new car launch by one of the bespoke manufacturers.

The all new Porsche Cayenne was the vehicle in question. The changes are very subtle but this is probably because the Cayenne has a strong following and the phrase 'if it isn't broke' , springs to mind.

Just like the numerous 911 model variations, Porsche only improve on what is needed and in this case that is very little.

The two models on show were the Cayenne S and the Cayenne Turbo, both looked great with a redefined rear end which in my opinion improves the aesthetics of the car. Interior has been improved and brings the Cayenne up to speed with some of it's competitors, namely the Range Rover Sport. Engines have been revised and the S still uses the 4.8 unit with slight improvements on economy and performance.

To be honest, we at Premiere Velocity are most excited about the GTS model when it is released, as the current or outgoing version was a favourite of ours....so let's just wait and see.
